The NJ branch of TKM was established in 2016 by Pavel Gavriluk who trained under the TKM founder, Erez Sharabi. The school operated in Closter until February of 2020 and reopened again in August of the same year under Haim Levy's management in Northvale. TKM NJ operates under the principles, guidelines and spirit of the global TKM organization.

The activity in the NJ branch is divided by age groups and is appropriate for children ages five and older through adulthood. In keeping with the goal of teaching self-defense skills while elevating the fitness level, the activities are tailored to each age group with appropriate discipline and instruction.

We strongly believe that virtually everyone can benefit from Krav Maga Training. Practicing Krav Maga promotes self confidence, situational awareness, strategic conduct and increased focus. Youth Krav Maga practitioners are better equipped to handle common challenges and are more socially comfortable.

Perpetrators (domestic or stranger) often perceive women as "easy pray". Krav Maga training supports women's combat propensity and empowers them to respond to threats, dangerous situations and attacks. A perpetrator who mounts an assault on a Krav Maga women practitioner or her family is likely to be overwhelmed by her response.

With Krav Maga as a second nature, men practitioners apply smart responses to various situations. Krav Maga promotes self restraint, control over emotions, and mental state during confrontation. Men practitioners are likely to be comfortable with de-escalation and deterrence techniques, however they will not shy away from combative action in the absence of a non violent alternative.

The Traditional Krav Maga organization promotes modesty and humility. TKM practitioners are taught to respect every individual, value human life, avoid or de-escalate confrontation when possible, and to not inflict unnecessary damage once the threat has been neutralized.
